MLB PLayoffs – AL Wild Card Preview

The Orioles and Jays lead off the 2016 MLB Playoffs with an AL East Wild Card showdown. Both teams finished with an 89-73 record, qualifying for the 1st and 2nd Wild Card spots in the American League, making 2016 the first time 3 teams from the same division have qualified for the playoffs.

The Blue Jays took the head-to-head series this year with a 10-9 record against the 0’s, but tonight’s pitching matchups tell a different story. The Jays will send Marcus Stroman to the mound Tuesday (9-10, 4.37 ERA), who went 1-2 in 4 starts vs. the Orioles this year and held a dismal 7.04 ERA in those matchups. On the bump for the Orioles will be Chris Tillman (16-6, 3.77 ERA) who earned a much better 1-0 record with a 3.63 ERA in his 4 starts against the Blue Jays this season.

Look for the longball in this Wild Card matchup. Prediction: Orioles 7, Blue Jays 4
